Dear Mr. President

Beaded photograph

Dear Mr. President is an ongoing polaroid portrait collaboration curated by Kara Khan of Pop Up Polaroid and myself that started as a direct response to the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. After engaging in conversation about what a Trump presidency means for the world as women, the subjects are photographed and then encouraged to make a statement directly on the Polaroid after it has developed. The Polaroids are then scanned, blown-up, and printed on fabric where the text is rewritten in embroidery. The result is a visual representation of the various reactions to Trump’s administration and the future of this country from women and girls of all ages and backgrounds. The final iteration of this project is a 8 foot by 6 foot protest banner embroidered by over 20 different women and assembled by Khan.
