love bites, 2020
Thermoplastic composite sheets, acrylic paint, crocheted yarn

Love bites is a mixed media installation created with Wonderflex thermoplastic composite sheets, paint, and yarn. The Wonderflex is manipulated to resemble free flowing fabric that holds its permanent shape in space. Painted with acrylic paint and then embellished with crocheted yarn, the forms elude to different parts of the body depending on how the viewer interprets them. The piece was created by projecting a video of bite shaped bruises onto a wall and then constructing elements from the video in physical space. The final form of this piece does not include the video projection, but only the sculptures that are left behind, much like the bruises that inspired the piece in the first place.
